Welcoming Western High School to Northwest Baltimore

The new school year is underway, with Western High School beginning a new chapter in northwest Baltimore. This fall, Western moved into the former Northwestern High School building in the Fallstaff neighborhood, which serves as a temporary “swing space” while City schools undergo renovations. CHAI is helping support a successful transition by working with Western High School, Baltimore City Public Schools, and local neighborhood associations to build strong connections between the school and the surrounding community. Through resource sharing, participation in events like Back-to-School Night, and introductions to community leaders and organizations, CHAI helps ensure students, families, and staff feel welcomed and supported. CHAI also serves on the BCPSS Northwestern Advisory Committee, helping strengthen collaboration throughout the swing space process. Supporting schools during transitions like this is part of CHAI’s School Community Partnership program, which has been connecting schools and communities and strengthening northwest Baltimore neighborhoods for more than 25 years.
