CCEMS Connects Parents and Students at Hispanic Heritage Month PTO Event
In celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month, CHAI organized a fun Parent Teacher Organization (PTO) event at Cross-Country Elementary/Middle School (CCEMS) to promote school community engagement. The event included Spanish interpretation for 15 participants and connected more than 200 students and parents for a celebration of culture and community. CCEMS Principal LaShella Stanfield thanked the audience for their participation in the event, noting what a difference it makes to have parents and families involved with the school. Following remarks, the students were treated to a showing of Disney’s Coco, while the parents mingled. CHAI’s CCEMS School Community Coordinator outlined the purpose and goals for the PTO and invited attendees to get involved. Every parent in attendance joined one of six committees on the PTO. It was an inspiring evening of togetherness and a true celebration of the vibrant mix of cultures in northwest Baltimore.
