Community Investment Tax Credits
Double Your Impact with Maryland’s Community Investment Tax Credits
Support CHAI’s mission and reduce your Maryland state tax liability. Donors who give $500 or more receive 50% of their gift as state tax credit—so your generosity goes twice as far for northwest Baltimore’s communities.
CITC credits are limited and first-come, first-served—reserve yours early. If you are interested in making a Community Investment Tax Credit gift, please contact rruben@chaibaltimore.org.

What is CITC?
Maryland’s Community Investment Tax Credit program encourages charitable giving by awarding state tax credits to donors who support approved nonprofit projects—like CHAI’s housing and community initiatives.
- Donations of $500+ to CHAI are eligible for a 50% Maryland tax credit.
- Your gift still qualifies as a charitable contribution; if you itemize, you may also claim a federal deduction.*
Who’s Eligible?
> Individuals with Maryland income tax liability
> Businesses operating in Maryland subject to state income tax
How It Works
Make a qualifying gift of $500 or more directly to CHAI. We’ll provide the required documentation, and you’ll claim a credit worth 50% of your gift on your Maryland return.
Why It Matters
Your gift powers safe, affordable housing and neighborhood revitalization—helping seniors, families, and communities thrive in northwest Baltimore.
You can make your gift by check, credit card, or stock donation.
Please be sure your contribution is completed by December 31, 2025 to receive 2025 tax credit eligibility.
