NNC Explores a New World of Fiber Arts at AVAM

Last month, Northwest Neighbors Connecting (NNC) members took a trip to explore the American Visionary Art Museum (AVAM). An eager group of members who are arts and fiber enthusiasts organized the event, securing tickets for The Secret Within: The Art of Judith Scott. The exhibition merged oral histories with personal stories from Scott’s life interwoven with her tangled sculptures of yarn and wool. Scott’s fiber mastery sparked ideas and conversation among the members. “AVAM is such an interesting museum to visit,” said NNC member Eileen Rosenbaum who was among the volunteers to coordinate the visit. “It’s unique in its exhibits, the artists who are displayed, and always such a fun way to spend a few hours.” NNC is a member-led, engaged group of older adults creating strong connections through a supportive community.
