Myerberg Art Class – European Style
Mary Mayhew’s Tuesday afternoon art class at the Edward A. Myerberg Center is a highlight of the week for many of her students. While working with oils, acrylics, and pastels, the class members listen to music, socialize, and catch up on each other’s lives. Their support and encouragement of one another extends beyond the classroom, with the group often having dinner together and celebrating holidays and special occasions. Last month, six members of the class traveled with Mary to Italy, staying in a villa in Tuscany and taking trips to Rome and Florence. Together, they toured art museums and spent time sketching and painting the Italian countryside. “Our bond was strengthened even more in an Italian way – enjoying good wine and food with the best of friends,” shared Vicki Kahn, proud Myerberg member and one of the traveling artists.
