CHAI’s Continuing Commitment to Real Conversations

June 16, 2020
At CHAI, our values inspire us to create space for diverse community members to have real conversations. We know that now we have an important opportunity to take part in the inspiring momentum toward ending systemic racism. We intend to show up as a strong ally to the black community in every way we can. We will engage community members in conversations where we listen to understand. And as we do, we commit to learn continually and act meaningfully. Last week, we were very pleased to bring our Community Conversations group back together by Zoom for a session facilitated by Sharlimar Douglass. The women shared how they have been impacted by COVID-19 through the lens of their gender, religious and cultural identities and shared the hopes they have as we move forward. The conversation was rich as the group discussed inequities that they experienced, similarities based on their identities as well as hopes they all had as we move forward.
