CHAI’s Annual Meeting: Recognizing the Power of Good Neighbors

July 9, 2026

CHAI marked the end of FY26 with an energizing annual meeting in June, alongside nearly 150 community members, program participants, volunteers, partners, and stakeholders. Rabbi Menachem Goldberger set the tone with an inspiring D’var Torah on what it means to be a good neighbor. Attendees then heard from a resident of CHAI’s Weinberg Place, Jonathan Jones, who embodies that neighborly spirit through his volunteer service, creating a warm and welcoming community among fellow residents. CHAI also took the opportunity to recognize individuals and organizations whose partnership has strengthened its work over the past year, including:

  • Community Partner of the Year: Sarah Mersky Miicke, Baltimore Jewish Council
  •  Business Partner of the Year: Aaron Loeb and Yanky Schorr, Tide Realty Capital/ The Plaza
  • Arnold Kohn Board Member of the Year: Matthew Rothstein

The meeting marked a leadership transition, as we thanked Esther Weiner for her service as Board President and celebrated incoming Board President Scott Brown. CHAI was also honored to welcome five new members to its Board of Directors:

  • Alexandra Hoffman
  • Larry Rosenberg
  • Ilene Rosenthal
  • Howard Sobkov
  • Phil Symonds

Thank you to everyone who came to honor CHAI’s impact in northwest Baltimore and all who are supporting CHAI’s work in various ways!
