CHAI Welcomes Liz Simon-Higgs
CHAI is excited to welcome Liz Simon-Higgs as our new Director of Community Development. Liz brings a rich set of skills and experiences to this role. She began her career in air quality monitoring in the Midwest and then transitioned to teaching reading and science in Baltimore City Public Schools for several years. She became involved in community organizing when her kids were young and has worked as a leader and an organizer with several local institutions. She also served on Baltimore City’s Property Tax Assessment Appeals Board for twelve years, chairing it from 2021 to 2025. Liz is excited to use her knowledge and passion to strengthen CHAI’s partnerships with local schools; support neighborhood leaders, coalitions, and cross-agency collaborations; and build strong relationships with fellow leaders, local organizations, and community stakeholders across the northwest Baltimore region.
