Another Big Step in Revitalizing the Pikesville Armory

June 11, 2026

As part of the Maryland Department of Housing and Community Development’s (DHCD) Community Connections tour, state and local leaders recently visited northwest Baltimore to connect with partners advancing housing, economic development, and community revitalization. One stop along the tour was the Pikesville Armory. Once a decommissioned military base, the Armory is now being reimagined by the Pikesville Armory Foundation and its partners as a vibrant, multi-use community hub with space for the arts, recreation, workforce development, and future housing. During the visit, DHCD leaders presented a ceremonial check to CHAI and the Pikesville Armory Foundation, officially announcing a $500,000 investment of Baltimore Regional Neighborhood Initiative (BRNI) funding for a workforce development makerspace at the Armory. Through its role as the fiscal sponsor of the Northwest Baltimore Partnership, CHAI is pleased to be part of bringing revitalization projects like this to life. The Armory is an important community asset, and its redevelopment advances the long-term investment strategy across northwest Baltimore.
