A Transformational Gift Secures NNC’s Future

April 16, 2026

When Mrs. C retired, she wasn’t sure what her days would look like. Now, her time is filled with Village Gatherings, committee meetings, group outings, and lunches with people she has met through Northwest Neighbors Connecting (NNC) who have since become close friends. She describes joining NNC three years ago as “the highlight” of her life. For Mrs. R, the shift was just as profound. After moving to Baltimore, she struggled to feel at home, and retirement only deepened that sense of isolation. Through NNC, she found connection, community, and a feeling of belonging she hadn’t expected. “I am just so happy that NNC exists,” she shared. Over the past 14 years since its founding, nearly 300 older adults have built relationships through NNC and found consistent opportunities to stay connected and supported in the communities they call home. As more older adults turn to NNC for this kind of connection, sustaining it has become essential. We’re grateful to share that this work will continue and grow thanks to a transformational commitment of $500,000 over five years from an anonymous donor through The Associated: Jewish Community Federation of Baltimore. Additionally, the advocacy of the Baltimore Jewish Council has restored state funding that serves as critical support to this core program of CHAI. These investments will provide long-term stability for NNC and help hundreds of older adults to remain independent and active in the communities they know and love.
